CoLiTec is recommended by GAIA

Gaia-FUN-SSO International Workshop – a very important event for researchers. CoLiTec development team also participated in the seminar. This is the second participation of project. At first project manager of CoLiTec Vadym Savanevych visited Gaia-FUN-SSO 2012 Workshop (CoLiTec and Gaia-FUN-SSO 2012 Workshop). This time Sergii Khlamov, software development Team Lead of CoLiTeс with perfect report took a part of Gaia-FUN-SSO 3 2014 International Workshop (CoLiTec and Gaia-FUN-SSO 3 2014 International Workshop). Sergii’s report mainly focused on the Precision of astrometry measurements made using CoLiTeс software for asteroids survey. The report and presentation aroused a great interest and CoLiTeс software demonstrated competitiveness among others analogs software.

The Gaia space astrometry mission has been launched on 19 December 2013. Several objectives require ground-based observations. In the same manner than other space missions, the Gaia consortium organizes calibration observations before the launch. But since Gaia is not a space observatory but will map the sky with the constraint of a scanning law, observations from the ground will be very interesting to be performed during the mission. Several groups have organized such programs. For example astrometric alerts for Solar System Objects will be triggered starting from April 2014. In order to use these alerts, the Gaia-FUN-SSO network has been set up for performing a follow-up of critical Solar System Objects (SSO) which will be detected by the probe but could be lost without ground-based astrometry.

The main goal of CoLiTec team in the participation in Gaia-FUN-SSO International Workshop is the future collaboration with all members of Gaia mission. So, after this workshop Vadym Savanevych, Sergii Khlamov and CoLiTec members received the official letter from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Institute of Celestial Mechanics and ephemeris calculation and Paris Observatory about CoLiTec and Gaia collaboration. William Thuillot, chairman of the Gaia-FUN-SSO workshop and coordinator of the Gaia-FUN-SSO network recommends CoLiTec software as a software for the detection of faint moving objects on a series of CCD frames for all participants in the Gaia-FUN-SSO network.


International Scientific and Methodological Conference 2014 KOLOS in Slovakia

In the period from 2 to 4 December 2014 took place an International Astronomy Conference KOLOS 2014. This year the traditional conference was organized within the framework of the international project “The Space Emergency System”. The project is supported by the ENPI (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument) Cross-border cooperation programme Hungary – Slovakia – Romania – Ukraine. The conference was held in Stakčín (Slovakia) at the Vihorlat observatory.

CoLiTec and Gaia-FUN-SSO 3 2014 International Workshop

From 24 to 26 November 2014 in Paris (France) was an Gaia-FUN-SSO 3 2014 International Workshop on the basis of the Paris Observatory.

Gaia-FUN-SSO 3 2014 International Workshop

Paris Observatory is the oldest one in the Europe. Paris geographical meridian (Greenwich) passes along the observatory building. It is the beginning of reference geographical longitude; is the average of the zero meridian of the zero time zone. Local average solar time at the Greenwich meridian is widely used in astronomy (for synchronizing Universal Time). In the XIX century in observatory established three telescopes, which are now shown to tourists. Also in the museum you can see the masterpieces of instrumental collections that have been used by scientists of earlier centuries.


MPC released a new circular
