CoLiTec published article in MNRAS

24 June, 2015 Oxford Journals published new article «A new method based on the subpixel Gaussian model for accurate estimation of asteroid coordinates» in «Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society» journal (Impact Factor – 5.107 & 5-Yr impact factor – 4.734).

We describe a new iteration method to estimate asteroid coordinates, based on a subpixel Gaussian model of the discrete object image. The method has been tested as the basis of our Collection Light Technology (CoLiTec) software. For demonstration abilities of described method the article contains MPC (Minor Planet Center) data by accuracy «ТОP-20» most effective world asteroid surveys by 2011-2013 years. Data is presented in graphical and table view.

Article contains accuracy comparison between CoLiTec and Astrometrica software by the same series of frames. This comparison of the statistical characteristics of measurements indicates that the limits of reliable measurements from CoLiTec software are more wide, than from Astrometrica software. This benefit corresponds to the extremely low SNR, so in the result objects is not observable by eye. This range of low SNR is more important because all objects in it are new. The results are about the same when SNR value is greater than 6.
